“The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.” This sentence and the scene preceding it (described in vs. 16-19) are incredible. The nation of Israel trembled before God. The mountain trembled. “The Lord had desceded on it [the mountain] in fire” (v.18). I will be thinking about this every time I sing about a mountain in a hymn or devotional song (We Shall Assemble on the Mountain is the first that comes to mind). And every time I see a mountain. And everytime I see the prescence of God in nature, another person or in my own life.
